Frequently Asked Questions

What is the "Gala"?
The Gala is the one and only fundraiser that benefits every student at Orange Lutheran. It is an evening open to all parents, past parents, grandparents and alumni. It takes place on the Orange Lutheran campus each fall. The evening begins with a silent auction of about 120 items outside, continues to a "strolling" dinner and live auction of 12 - 15 items in the gym (which has been transformed for the evening), concludes with a special performance in the Nechita Center starring our talented students, and is topped off with a dessert bar back in the gym.
What are the ticket prices?
For the fourth year in a row, the committee has decided NOT to raise the ticket price this year. An individual ticket price is $125 before September 18, $150 after September 18. The event is open to the first 500 people who purchase tickets and has sold out the last two years in a row.
How do I buy a table or are there underwriting opportunities?
There are multiple underwriting opportunities and options for filling a table, see the underwriting portion of your invitation, this website, or contact Betsy Kunau at betsy.kunau@lhsoc.org.
What's the dress?
It varies with each individuals comfort level, but here are a few thoughts:
  • Black tie optional
  • Men: Dark suit and tie to a tux
  • Women: "Little Black Dress" to a gown
  • Closer to wedding attire than church attire
How is the seating arranged?
The Gala is seated for dinner and the performance
  • Underwriters have premium seating
  • First come, first serve on all other purchased tickets
  • We do our best to honor seating requests as long as they are noted on the response card
Do you take credit cards? If so, which ones?
  • Yes, Visa, MasterCard on the response card
  • Amex, Visa and MasterCard if purchased online
  • PayPal is also available online
  • What projects has the Gala funded in the past?
The Gala funds Special Projects that benefit all the students at Orange Lutheran. An example would be the screens in the gym and the projectors in the classrooms.
    Can children come?
No, children may not attend. Alumni over the age of 18 are invited if accompanied by a parent.
    Can I bring guests?
Yes. We recommend you add their names to the back of your response card. When does the Gala begin and end?
    • The Silent Auction begins at 5:00pm.
    • Checkout and Dessert begin after the performance, approximately 9:30pm.
    Will there be alcohol?
Wine only by LHS Board approval.
Can I attend the Performance only?
    No.
Can I still donate Auction Items?
Always, we are always looking for unique and fun items. However, we need confirmation of the donation by September 18 to guarantee their inclusion in the auction and publication in the program. Contact Suzanne Lewis at SENJL@aol.com to donate an item.
    Can I volunteer?
Yes, we have many opportunities before, during and after the Gala for volunteers. Contact Sandy Hemphill in the Development Office: sandy.hemphill@lhsoc.org.
Can I check out early or pay for my items later?
    • No to both. Checkout opens after the Performance only. If items are not picked up the night of, they will be offered to the next highest bidder.
    • All items must be paid for in full the evening of the Gala by cash, check (made out to LHSOC) or credit card (Visa, MC, Amex).
    Are there any lower-priced items?
Yes, Buy-Ins (group activities with special access) are available for everyone at a set dollar amount.
    Additional Questions?
Ask a member of the committee listed on this website.
